CHRIST'S CHURCH

HURRICANE POLICY

Following Hurricane Katrina and Rita in 2005, we reviewed our policies related to hurricanes and the cancellation of services. In an effort to make the policies concerning service and meeting cancellation, as clear as possible, the Church Council adopted the following policy.  This policy addresses these concerns and those raised by regional emergency management officials and our own membership.

Following the announcement of a hurricane or tropical watch by the National Weather Service, we want to encourage our entire membership to be alert and stay tuned to the Severe Weather monitoring services via the Television, Radio and Internet.    http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

We would also encourage our membership to begin making arrangements for what you would do if an evacuation is ordered.  We strongly recommend that you have a plan in place for your family well before an evacuation is ordered.

When a Category 3 or stronger hurricane is forecast to approach the Houston area within 5 days, the Council has determined that ALL church services and meetings will be cancelled and our membership will be encouraged to begin evacuation.  An announcement concerning the status of services and meetings will be made via our church website and sent to our membership via email.

We will attempt to keep our membership updated via an emergency information blog as to additional updates and information and projected dates when services and meetings will resume.
